Alvaro Arroliga is a photographer and queer artist born and raised in Nicaragua, and currently based in Dallas, Texas. Inspired by haute couture portraiture, Latin-American social movements, and LGBTQIA+ narratives, he explores his subjects with sensibility and intimacy. This approach can also be attributed to his personal narrative and immigrant journey. Arroliga is interested in providing visibility and improving attitudes towards queer subcultures and other underrepresented groups. His current work focuses on the deconstruction of fashion and commercial photography using non-traditional approaches in his compositions. In this subversive way, he calls for inclusiveness and presents an initiative to diversify and democratize the fashion industry.
